The Way Of Life

DAY 8 OF 41

God is Good

I consider this to be the cornerstone of our theology. He is as good as He is holy. I don’t know anyone in the faith who would disagree with this statement of God’s goodness. If we’re honest, we have to believe it, as it is in the Scriptures. It’s not the statement of faith that needs adjusting as much as it is our definition of His goodness that needs attention. God is credited with many horrible things because of the thought that He is God and in control of everything.

It is true that God is in charge, but I wouldn’t agree that He is in control. He is God and can force His purposes on all He has made, should He want to. But He has chosen to create something called free will, and in doing so made it possible for things to happen He didn’t approve of. [God is] not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance” (2 Pet. 3:9 NKJV). Is anyone perishing? Yes. Is it His will? No. So we can’t afford to come to such careless conclusions, just because we haven’t seen the breakthrough we’ve been praying for.

Ask yourself: What does it mean to you to truly believe God is Good? What thoughts or experiences are holding you back from embracing this truth?

About this Plan

The Way Of Life

You’re invited to walk through Bill Johnson’s teaching on The Way of Life. We want to see God demonstrate His will in and through us so profoundly, and obviously, that it becomes the very thing that draws people into the Kingdom. Let us live, love, and lead like Jesus. This plan is taken from Bill Johnson's book, The Way of Life.
