Creating Spiritual Community At Work

DAY 5 OF 5

Invest Wisely

Being excellent in all you do, listening well, praying quietly, and encouraging others creates the foundation for spiritual community in the workplace. Most of us would like to jump right in with a Bible study or prayer group, but it is vital to build relationships first. It is essential to really know your coworkers and to invest wisely.

Paul tells Timothy to invest wisely. He tells Timothy to take all he has heard and entrust that message, the gospel, to reliable men - to entrust the truth of the gospel to those who are reliable and will teach others. There is a multiplication principle at play in 2 Timothy 2.

Matthew 28:16-20, is known as the Great Commission. A commission simply means to authorize work.  Matthew 28:16-20 tells us of the account of the resurrected Jesus assigning and authorizing work for His disciples. At the core of this work assigned are two small but powerful words: make disciples. Make Disciples! There is a multiplication principle at play in Matthew 28:16-20.

Creating a spiritual community at work is strategic, it is multiplication, and it is life-changing for everyone involved. We spend most of our waking hours at work. It is in the workplace that we can invest in the lives of others. Meeting rooms, lunchrooms, offices, cubicles - these are the places we can live out the truth of scripture and build spiritual community. The workplace is where we can impact others. Find reliable men and women in your workplace - the men and women who will teach others too.  And then you can build a spiritual community together.

Prayer:

Father, open my eyes and ears so that I can find the reliable men and the reliable women in my workplace. Help me to see the small moments to make a big difference. Help me take advantage of the opportunities to be excellent, listen well, pray quietly, and encourage others. Father, I ask that my workplace be a place where a spiritual community grows. Amen.

About this Plan

Creating Spiritual Community At Work

Here comes Monday, and we find ourselves all fired up to make a difference at work. Sometimes we jump quickly to the end goal of creating a spiritual community at work by way of the obvious. But spiritual community takes time to build, and you might be surprised where it starts. This 5-day plan was created by DaySpring in partnership with Workmatters.
