True North: Leading Your Family Spirituallyنموونە
One way to lead your family as the Spiritual Leader of your home is to lead by example. For years, I wanted my sons to read their Bible, but I wasn’t engaging in God’s Word myself. I would point out “issues” with my wife and I thought I needed to “fix her” instead of allowing Christ to heal and fix me. I wanted my wife and children to be patient with me, yet I was rarely patient with them.
On numerous occasions, I would be yelling at my family on Sunday mornings to hurry up, so we were not late for church. I demanded them to have a good attitude when they walked in the doors, yet I was awful.
What my sons needed more than anything, was to see their father excited to be going to church. To see me serving, and being generous. Not just on Sunday, but every day. I was setting a poor example for them… that my faith was only important one day a week. As the Spiritual Leader of my home, I should have been setting the example that attending church is important to our family and we should be generous seven days a week.
