Reigniting the Joy of Motherhoodنموونە
Resting in His Grace
I never knew how much I loved sleep until I had kids. Gone were the days of 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep.
Soon, I found myself thinking, "How am I going to make it through the day with only 3 or 4 hours of sleep?" or "Today is going to be so hard!" I was dreading the day before it even began. It quickly became a downward spiral.
See, when we shift our focus from God's strength to our own abilities, we quickly begin to feel inadequate. Anxious. Overwhelmed. Not sure if we have what it takes to get everything done while still loving Jesus and our families.
The good news is we don't have to go through the day in our own strength. Because of Jesus, we have unlimited access to God's grace. His unmerited favor is freely given to us.
It doesn't matter how much sleep we got last night or how inadequate we feel for the "job" ahead. We find our true inner strength when we rely on God's grace. His power is made perfect in our weakness.
When we try to do it all ourselves, we rob God of the chance to make His power known to us.
Instead of thinking, "How am I going to do this?" try claiming His promises. Rest in His favor. Pray, "God, thank You for giving me everything I need to get through this day. You will give me the strength, energy, and grace to accomplish what needs to be done." This is how we rely on God's grace.
His word tells us He will help us, sustain us, carry us. Let's not take that for granted. We have complete access to this gift from above!
We weren't designed to do it alone. Join with your Heavenly Father on this journey through motherhood. Walk in confidence, knowing that the full power of God's grace is within you. Knowing that wherever you step your foot, God is already there, working on your behalf.
Think of a time when God's power was made perfect in your weakness. What happened? Remind yourself if He did it before, He can do it again.
