There Is More In Youنموونە
Day 7: Yes Lord!
God does not wait until you get saved to decide what he will do in your life. He knew before you were formed what you would be. Everything in your life is all playing a role in shaping your destiny because so much like God, what you are going to be is hidden in what you are and what you were. Fishers of fish are not normally fishers of men.
Peter did not understand what Jesus said, no more than his understanding who Jesus was. By faith and on his command, Peter followed Jesus. You would think that Jesus would have told Peter to follow him so that he would come to know Jesus. But Jesus told Peter to follow him so that Peter would come to know who Peter really was. Here is where the conflict starts: knowing how you see yourself versus how God sees you. Peter does not see himself as a fisher of men. In fact, Peter was not particularly good with people; he didn’t have really good social skills. Jesus was leading leaders who did not see themselves as leaders.
Peter became enthralled with Jesus; he loved Jesus. He followed Jesus; he thought he would die for Jesus. He cut off someone’s ear for Jesus. He walked on water because of Jesus. He was really committed to Jesus, because Jesus saw something in Peter that he did not see in himself. There is nothing like having someone believe in you when you are struggling to believe in yourself! It is great to have someone who has caught a glimpse of your destiny while you are still struggling with your history. There is nothing like having someone come along and give you the confidence to say, “Yes Lord!”
About this Plan
Everyone grapples with insecurities. Whether you’re jaded from past trauma, a present heartache, or a persistent feeling of rejection, self-doubt doesn’t have to narrate your story. Historically, God has always transformed those who feel the most inadequate into effective leaders, healers, and change agents. Start this reading plan to uncover how God uses “flawed” individuals to illustrate that there is more in you than your history!
