Everyone. Everywhere. Part 1

DAY 5 OF 20

The Best News Ever: Our world is characterized by brokenness.  Even as good as some things can seem, the truth is there is something wrong with everything—including each of us.   There are problems with what we do, how we act, and even how we think—not to mention all of the good things we know we should do but leave undone. We continually fall short.

Because God loved us so much, He did not want to leave us that way. God Himself, the One who formed stars and galaxies and presently upholds all of creation, humbled Himself to become one of us and step into our broken world. Jesus, the Son of God who was fully God and fully man, lived the life that we could not live. Jesus lived and died for the sins of the world, so that anyone who puts their trust in Him will have a restored relationship with our Creator. Then, to prove that Jesus was God and that He had the ability to pay the penalty for our sins, Jesus came back to life three days later.

The God of the universe cares so deeply about you that He was willing to enter our broken world and die one of the most horrible deaths imaginable so that you would have a way out of brokenness and into a restored relationship with Him.  This Gospel message is the best news ever! We deserve death, but receive eternal life. We deserve to be abandoned, but we are loved more than we can ever fully comprehend.

  • Questions:
    • There are two kinds of people in this world: those who need to accept this best news ever, and those who need to share it with others.  Which one are you?
    • If you have not accepted Jesus’ sacrifice on your behalf by believing that He died and rose again for you, what is holding you back?
    • If you have put your faith in Jesus for the forgiveness for your sins, what is keeping you from sharing the good news with others?
  • Prayer of Faith: Lord Jesus, I know that I am imperfect. I trust that you are God, and that you died and rose again for me. Thank you for how much you love me and how much you forgive me. Help me to take my next steps in my relationship with you, so that I may live a life worthy of what you have done for me.  Amen.
  • Prayer for Sharing: Lord Jesus, thank you that someone shared the Gospel with me and that I was able to believe it and begin a relationship with you.  Please use me to share the best news I have ever been told with others, so that they too would be able to know your love.  Remove any barriers that are holding me back.  Amen.
