“I Will Follow (You Are With Me)”
On good days, it’s easy to clearly hear and believe what God says about us — that we’re loved, chosen, beautiful, His. However, it’s much harder to believe His promises are true when we find ourselves in the midst of a storm. It’s during these seasons that the enemy’s greatest goal is to leave us spiritually depleted.
The enemy is an expert liar. He whispers questions and doubts into our hearts and speaks deceit over our lives hoping we’ll believe him when he says we’re not enough and that God couldn’t possibly love us or care about the situation we find ourselves in.
Though the desert may be before me / And there’s no relief in sight / Though the enemy is breathing all the lies into my mind / You will always carry me until my dying day
Not only do we often believe lies about ourselves, but we fall prey to the lies of our circumstances. We think that things are going to last forever when they’re only temporary. We feel like God is never going to make good on His promises as we watch our dreams die. We don’t see how He can possibly redeem our situation. It happens time and time again. Yet, we’re surprised how quickly things can change when we finally place our worries, our fears and our dreams into His capable hands. After all, He promises that our work here on earth is never meaningless. The pain, the toil, the strife — it all has purpose.
You’ll gather all the children that are calling out Your name / When the troubles are the here and now I know it’s not in vain
In 1 Corinthians 15:58 (HCSB), Paul assures us of God’s promise that He wastes nothing in our lives: “Therefore, my dear brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the Lord’s work, knowing that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”
So, dear friends, no matter what season you find yourself in, take hold of Christ and allow Him to lead you. He may not immediately lead you out of your present circumstance, but He will lead you through it.
I will follow, follow You wherever You go / And I will listen to the very promises I know / You are with me, always with me, keeper of my soul
