God Is With You, Always

DAY 4 OF 5

Daniel

Many years after their enslavement, the Israelites were exiled out of their land and lived in captivity under the Babylonians. Wounded, defeated, and captured, the people of God had a hard time finding hope, but God made a way for them to live great lives in the midst of their captivity.

Scripture focuses specifically on one guy named Daniel. Daniel was a young man when Babylon captured Israel, and like any recently captured person would feel, Daniel was likely scared and unsure what his new life would look like.

God made a way for Daniel to live well by putting him in close proximity to the rulers of the land. Eventually this would lead him to a very high governmental position similar to a prime minister under the Persian King Darius.

Daniel always trusted the Lord even when it was not easy. He prayed regularly, knowing that God desired that kind of relationship with him.

Other government officials were jealous of Daniel’s position and sought to destroy him, so they crafted a way to get him thrown into a den of lions. They had the King mahe prayer to any God illegal, but Daniel never stopped praying. In the midst of his hardest times, he still turned to God, and God listened. When the leaders threw him into the lions’ den, Daniel did not know for sure how he would get out. He simply had to trust fully in God to make a way out, and he did.

The next morning, all the other leaders were shocked when they found out that Daniel had lived, but Daniel was not. He knew that the Lord was on His side and that He would make a way for Daniel to get through his trials.

God wants you to turn to him in your hardest times. He listens. He cares, and he wants to make a way out for you. When you read Daniel’s story, pray that the Lord would help you fight your battles like He helped Daniel. You can trust in Him just like Daniel did.
