Looking Like Jesus

DAY 1 OF 3

 In His Image

“Why did God create us?” “What is the purpose of our lives?” A lot of people have these questions, some probably more than others. Often, we are told we must live our life for ourselves. We need to find as much happiness as possible, and therefore we need to find an education and a job that suits us best.

Although it is certainly not wrong to seek such a job or education, I do not think this is the purpose for which God created us. To find out what we are created for, I think it's good to go back to the very beginning.

"So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them." (Genesis 1:27, NKJV)

God created us in His image. The word 'image' used in this verse is the same word that’s is used for 'idol'. The reason for pagan people in the Old Testament to make idols is so they had something that reminded them of their god. They created something, for example a golden bull, which according to them looked like the god they wanted to worship.

God also created such an image of Himself. This is image is us—humans. We are the image that should make people think of God. We are made to show God to this world, therefore we are created in His image. Why would you ever be insecure about yourself? When God made something that most closely resembled Him, He made you. He thinks you are the perfect way to show Himself to this world!

Streef! is a Dutch organization. We want to show young people in church that Jesus is alive! We organize weekends, worship nights and can be invited to preach! For more information, visit our dutch website  or Instagram .

About this Plan

Looking Like Jesus

In this 3-day plan we will discover that God has created us to look like Him. He made us 'in His image'. We will discover what Jesus' sacrifice on the cross has to do with looking more like Him. We will see more and more what God wants for our lives.
