Jesus is straight savage in John. Yes, He's still merciful and kind and forgiving and all that jazz, but He makes some do-or-die statements in John. The author insists that Jesus is the only way to the Father, and that if we reject Jesus, we're actually rejected God. John's singular focus is to force the reader to a decision about Jesus.
