Fear, Doubt, Lies: Tools Of The Accuserنموونە
DOUBT: Depending On Understanding Before Trusting.
The enemy is many things, but when it comes to your thought life there is one title which captures his manipulative strategy: accuser.
The devil cannot make you do anything. He is like a dog on a leash. God allows him to go only so far and no further. He is allowed to bark only so loud and that’s it.
Everything about him is limited by God’s grace and power and so ultimately, we are safe.
When it comes to our minds, the devil’s strongest attack is his ability to feed us lies, or more accurately, accusations.
He tries to convince us that what we did was unforgivable – that who we are is dirty and undeserving and unworthy of love.
All of his energy is spent trying to achieve a single goal: doubt.
Doubt is his goal because he knows that is how he shuts off our faith. If we begin to doubt who God says we are and what He promised us, then we are engaging in the opposite of our calling. We are exchanging confidence and expectation for fear and distrust.
Doubt weakens our resolve and saps our energy. It makes us question the most fundamental truths about who we are and allows Satan to establish “a foothold” – a way for him to make the accusations even louder.
So what do we do?
Shout back!
In Matthew 4, Jesus is brought out to the desert and tempted by the enemy. But all three times Jesus fights back with the same weapon we have access to today: the Word of God.
If you don’t know what the Bible says about who you are and what you can do – you will have nothing to fight doubt with.
