Day Three- Feet Fitted and Shield of Faith
With Jesus holding our lives and His Word in our hearts, Paul instructs us next to have our feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. Armed with the Truth and pure hearts, the Lord wants us to join His mission. The Lord always has work for us to do. We are to be ready for action, moving in sync with the Holy Spirit. We are to “be prepared in season and out of season” (2 Timothy 4:2) to preach the Word.
As the Living Water flows through us, we are to be Ambassadors for Christ. We call this ministry Influencers because we all have a “sphere of influence” and this sphere is our primary mission field. As we stay active in the Lord’s work, He protects us. It’s hard for the Enemy to hit a moving target.
The Shield of Faith extinguishes the flaming arrows. Our Faith is SO important. We believe in God, though we cannot see Him with our eyes. We believe He can do the impossible. We believe He is more powerful than anything the enemy can throw at us. We put our Faith into action, as James suggests in James 2:14-26, as we go about making Disciples and doing good deeds (Living it Out).
The Shields in the day of Paul were six feet tall and designed to lock into other shields. So, one important way that we use our Shields of Faith is to lock shields with other believers. As we share with others our burdens and our areas where we are being attacked, and we Pray together, our Faith is strengthened.
Jesus’ most vulnerable times on earth as a man were when he was alone…during the temptation in the desert and in the Garden of Gethsemane. Jesus knows we are stronger when we are together. That’s why He picked a group of men and why He sent them out two by two. We must “take up” our Shield of Faith, which means we are intentional.
“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for.” Hebrews 11:1
About this Plan
The spiritual life is a battle, especially for those who are attempting to make disciples, and the man or woman of God must be prepared and armed and ready for attack. Let us help you understand the spiritual armor available to us.
