Read To Me DAILYنموونە
NUMBERS 8-9:
In Numbers 7, we heard about the gifts given by the leaders of Israel following the dedication of the sacred tent.
PSALM 31:
Psalm 31 is a desperate— yet confident, prayer for protection. This prayer models the secret of effective prayer— praying with full belief in the Lord.
LUKE 20b:
Yesterday’s reading in the first part of Luke 20 showed how the Jewish leaders tried to confront and discredit Jesus. I remember reading these passages in the summer after 6th grade and being so impressed with Jesus' wisdom.
Let’s pray:
Lord Jesus, we are in awe of You. You saw right through your enemies and every argument they were trying to bring to You. You are the Stone which the builders rejected as worthless, but in reality You are the Cornerstone which is the most valuable of all. It’s important that we realize this, Lord, because everyone who falls on that stone, which is You, will be cut to pieces. And if that stone falls on someone, they will be crushed like dust. Lord you displayed your wisdom before the teachers who asked you what right you had. Oh, they had an opinion, all right! But they were afraid to give it. And you saw right through the trick that the others came to present to you. And You see right through every person. Before You, none of us will have an excuse. So we say, “Lord, do not be angry with us.” Forgive us as we come to You. The Scripture says, “Your anger is but for a moment. And your goodness is for a lifetime. Tears may flow in the night. But joy comes in the morning.” We bow before you Lord because You have proved this. We cried to you for help, and You healed us. You saved us, and You have kept our enemies from gloating over us. You have changed our sadness into a joyful dance. You have taken away our sorrow. You surrounded us with joy.” And so Lord, today, we will not be silent. We will sing praise to You. Lord, You are our God, and we will give you thanks forever.
