Read To Me DAILY

DAY 35 OF 81

EXODUS 9-10:
The two chapters of Exodus we read yesterday included the story of Aaron's staff becoming a serpent, and the plagues of blood, frogs, gnats, and flies.

Note verse that in our reading today:
9:19 GNT Now give orders for your livestock and everything else you have in the open to be put under shelter. Hail will fall on the people and animals left outside unprotected, and they will all die.’ ”

Evidently enough time had passed between the plague against the livestock so that the Egyptians were able to again purchase livestock, and I am sure the people of Israel profited in many of those transactions!

JOB 35:
Chapter 35 of Job is Elihu's 4th chapter preaching to Job.

JAMES 4:
Yesterday James preached about controlling the tongue, then he taught about the qualities of wisdom from God.

Let’s pray together:
Our almighty God, our heavenly Father, and the Creator of the universe:
How privileged we are to be able to come before you through Christ Jesus! Lord in Elihu’s words we see wisdom. He asks Job, “Have you confessed your sins to God and promised not to sin again? Have you asked God to show you your faults? And have you agreed to stop doing evil?” Our Father, we ask you to show us our faults and sins, and we will today confess those things to You. And one area has been shown to us by James: We are so quick to say evil things. We use our mouths to praise You, and then we say evil things about our brothers or sisters. We tell lies or we gossip. We are in that way hypocrites. Lord we repent, and we ask you to help us control our tongues. And here are some things that James mentioned that lead us to speak evil: Jealousy, pride, boasting, bitterness, selfishness. Lord give us the wisdom from above which is pure and peaceful, gentle and friendly, and full of compassion. And may we, Lord, produce a harvest of good deeds that is free from prejudice and hypocrisy. And today, may our goal be to bring glory to Christ.
