Chasing Away Anxiety

DAY 5 OF 6

Hello, and welcome to this fifth session in this guided meditation series called "Chasing Away Anxiety".

This session is called "Powerful Decisions".

During this time, I'll be asking some questions and sharing my thoughts to help you become a more peaceful, clear and connected person. Find a quiet place. Settle in.
Close your eyes if you can. Take a deep breath.

Much of our anxiety comes from feeling out of control.  When we feel powerless in circumstances or relationships, our anxiety naturally climbs to prepare us for something bad.

As I mentioned before, anxiety causes us to live through terrible things that never happen. This isn't to say that bad things don't happen. They do. And some of them are terrible. But we certainly don't want to make more than our share.

Nonetheless, when chaos knocks on our door, we need to know that we are powerful. You’re powerful to make powerful decisions.

I'd like us to ask Jesus some questions:
Jesus do I sometimes believe that I am a victim?
Do I believe that I am powerless to decide?
Jesus, do I sometimes blame people or situations for how I behave?

Jesus, when did I first experience feeling powerless to make my own decisions?
Is there someone I need to forgive?

Trusting God is a choice only powerful people can make. The Bible says that the God of Peace will soon crush your enemy under your feet. The peace of God will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. The Hebrew word for peace is "shalom". Shalom can also be interpreted as authority over chaos.

I’d like to end this time together by just praying over you.

Lord, we stand in your presence now. We trust you with our greatest struggle.
Your purpose of bringing the abundant life to the surface is our trust and point of focus. Thank You for authority in the storms. Thank You for the peace that surpasses all understanding. We will choose to powerfully rule over chaos. We choose peace, in Jesus' name. Amen
