The Perspective To See Benefits Of Difficulty

DAY 5 OF 5

The Longing Of Angels

When we think about angels, we usually consider them superior beings. They dwell in the realm of the divine, carrying out direct orders from God, and watch over us with care. The Bible endorses this view.

According to 1 Peter, the angels also carefully study us. They are fascinated by the unique ability of humans. Enraptured by the part we have to play. Likely awed, the angels look on us with intrigue.

What is it that we have that would fascinate the angels? Faith. The ability to make our choices by faith. The courage to believe in things unseen, to put our deepest trust in an evidence we cannot fully grasp. There is a profound beauty to the mystery of being human. Our unique place in the cosmos is a place of honor. The angels see. They do not have the opportunity to live by faith. That these great and mighty beings are studying us tells us what a precious gift we have been given to live a life of faith on this side of eternity.

We love to cast ourselves in certain roles, to determine truth based solely on the view from our lens. We are like people looking across a great river to admire the scene on the other side, oblivious to the ones on that shore looking through their binoculars at us. The mystery of meaning on this earth. The divine drama played out in humanity.

What if we changed our perspective from one of the lowly humans to one of the great race of men, the sole creature in The Kingdom capable of faith? How would we behave differently if we knew the angels longed for what we have, that they were watching with curiosity and intrigue?

Peter says, “It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.”

True perspective invites us to see from many angles. It helps us better understand our place in the divine drama. It ushers greater depths of self-awareness, ownership, and thankfulness. When this life ends, we will also see. Faith will be no more. To waste the opportunity to know God and to learn by faith is a loss that will never be recovered.

Let’s fully embrace living a life of faith. What will the angels whisper of us today?

Please look for the 3rd part of the plan, Yellow Balloons. In life, we all go through different seasons. Some are on the mountaintop, most in the plains and even in the valley. This series encourages us to choose a truer and godly perspective during any season of our lives.

About this Plan

The Perspective To See Benefits Of Difficulty

It is tempting to run from our choices. To feel as though the circumstances are so stacked against us that we cannot choose our way out. God calls us to participate in His Kingdom. Our choices are powerful and they matter in the Kingdom of God. Through this plan we will be encouraged to choose a truer perspective, make wiser choices, and persevere through sufferings.
