Kickstart A Conversation With Godنموونە
Unlock Your Sim Card
All mobile phones are essentially made up of three main parts. The first is the shell which consists of the screen, the battery, and the case. Then there is the operating system which runs our apps and helps us complete our daily tasks. Most importantly there is the sim card. Without it, you can’t actually make a phone call. And let’s not forget that making calls is still the reason our phones are supposed to exist!
A useful way to think about your own spiritual identity is to see yourself as having three main parts just like a smartphone. Every person is made up of a body, a mind, and a spirit.
Our body is like an outer shell that comes in many different shapes and sizes. Our mind acts like the operating system supporting us in daily life. But it is perhaps our spirit that is the hardest to explain. Your spirit may not be visible, but it is vital to who you are. Without our spirit, we would be like a phone without a sim card—unable to connect with anyone beyond ourselves.
There is this verse in the book of Psalms that says, "The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth."
This means that even though we can’t see God with our eyes, God is near and available to those who call out to Him and believe He is listening. When you start to see yourself as having a mind, body, and spirit, it changes everything. Seeing yourself as having a spirit makes it easier to believe that we can connect with an invisible God through the Bible and prayer.
Just like you would pick up a phone and speak to a friend, you can pray to God and ask Him to speak to you today through the Bible. God is near to all who call upon Him.
What would you say if you had a direct line to have a conversation with God right now? What would it change for you if God actually picked up the phone and answered?
