With God's Help: Devotions from Time of Graceنموونە
There will be justice
The sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach. The long scratch on the paint of your new car, keyed by some callous vandal. The broken window. Your missing purse. A silent and invisible pickpocket nabs your wallet in a crowd.
An arsonist burns down a building that provided jobs to dozens of people, now unemployed. A mugger leaves a shaken victim who will never feel safe again. Teenagers knock a grade school kid off his bike and steal it.
We can’t escape. The world we live in is broken. The cruel, the greedy, the violent take advantage of their fellows. Sometimes they are caught. Often, terribly often, they are not, and they live on to damage more lives another day. Where is justice?
Here it is: “Be sure of this: The wicked will not go unpunished, but those who are righteous will go free” (Proverbs 11:21). God sees and knows; he remembers and waits. The day is coming when there will be no secrets and no escapees. Those who trust in Christ are forgiven and welcomed. Those whose crimes are unforgiven will receive what the Judge thinks they deserve.
