DAY 7 OF 10

“The Faithful Warrior”

Go through and read today's scripture.

What if you never trusted your spouse? You question everything he tells you. You never believe he’ll do what he says. You don't think he wants good things for you. Do you think your spouse would take pleasure in your relationship?

Hebrews 11:6 says: "And it is IMPOSSIBLE to please God without faith."

It makes sense. How can God take pleasure in our relationship with Him if we don't trust Him and believe what He says is true, and what He says He'll do...He'll do! It is the same with any relationship; whether marriage, or friendship, or in parenting. It's IMPOSSIBLE to please someone if you don't trust them.

I love Elizabeth. I think she must have been a feisty woman, because God chose to give her John...the man that ate locusts, had wild hair, and wore animal skins. And also, she had him when she was old! He must have created her with a wild and adventurous heart.

Because Zachariah questioned His message, God must have known he would ruin the good news of their son with doubt. So he closed his mouth. (And maybe He wanted to surprise Elizabeth himself, which I love!). God is sending a pretty clear message here. Zachariah was a righteous man. But it doesn't matter how righteous we are if we don't trust God.

Mary chose to receive this news by faith. Such an opposite picture of what we saw with Zachariah.

Elizabeth believed what she couldn't see, and she recognized the power faith holds. Jesus hadn't been born, and yet she believed it would be. The Lord must have taken such great delight in His relationship with Mary and Elizabeth. Women who believed Him.

I love what Hebrews 11:13 says about those who walked by faith: "... they saw it all from a distance and welcomed it."

What an incredible way to live. Arms open, welcoming what God has for us, believing it will come to pass. To be a faithful warrior for the Lord means having the eyes to see God's fulfilled promises in the distance and welcoming those promises home in our hearts.

What crisis of belief are you facing? He longs to cultivate an adventurous heart in you, like Elizabeth. He wants to bless you and show up in your life in ways that you’ve never known. Will you let Him? Will you trust Him?
