Your Purpose Is In His Handsنموونە
The space shuttle is an enormous flying machine created to carry out a unique mission and direction. It has been designed to go somewhere. Yet because of gravity, the space shuttle in and of itself can’t go anywhere at all. That is until it is placed on the launch pad.
Before it gets to the launch pad, gravity tells it, “You aren’t going anywhere. You are grounded.” And gravity is right. But when it gets on the launch pad and a fire is lit beneath it, this earth-bound multi-ton vehicle is now able to soar.
Your passion is your fire. Yet many of us are grounded in time because of our fears. Many of us are grounded from living out our destiny because of things that we have been told. We have poor self-esteem, and even though we desire it – we don’t even believe that God can create enough fire to lift this mess off of the ground. Yet if fire can lift the space shuttle all the way out of the earth’s atmosphere, fire can do the same for you too. Things move because of fire.
The same is true for you. So what is that thing, subject, interest or vision that stirs you up inside when you do it, think about it, or prepare for it? Whatever that is - when you connect that passion with an eternal perspective, you’ll light a fire within.
Keep in mind that your purpose and your passion always has eternity written in it if it is the destiny given to you by God. So the question you need to ask yourself is this: What am I passionate about that has eternity connected with it?
Frequently in Scripture it says that God “stirred” the heart of the person He was calling to do something. What has God stirred your heart about? What brings out your emotions? What breaks your heart or inspires and invigorates you? What is it that when you do it, engage with it, or even think about it – makes you feel alive? If eternity is connected to it, that is your passion revealing your destiny. Pursue it. Chase it. Run after it. Go get it. Embrace it. Live it. Because without it, you will merely be existing – you won’t be fulfilling your destiny.
The best question to ask regarding passion is if it wasn’t for money, family, or time – is there something in your life that you would do? What would that be? Do you have a secret ambition? If it is tied to eternity then that is your passion. And unless you pursue your passion, you are going to die. I’m not talking about a physical death, but what will happen is that you will die emotionally. Passion left unaddressed dies, or at the least - it remains squelched.
Prayer: God, reveal and confirm to me my passion connected with my eternal purpose please. Light the fire within me that will propel me to do that which you have created me to do. In Jesus' name, amen.
