Are You Stuck? How to Conquer Indecisionنموونە
Don't Be Afraid of Getting Out of God's Will
Sometimes we can be afraid to make a decision because we’re afraid it will be the wrong one and we’ll get out of God’s will. But listen, if you’re earnestly seeking God about the decisions in your life, I believe there are really only two ways to get out of His will.
One way is if He has told you to do something -- and you know beyond a shadow of a doubt He’s told you to do it – and you won’t.
What do I mean by that? Well, suppose God has impressed upon your heart to reach out to someone who has hurt you -- not once but multiple times. Yet you don’t do it. Every time the idea comes to your mind you say, “No, I'm not going to do that -- they owe me an apology!”
If God is nudging you to do something, it’s only for your benefit. If you’re resisting Him, you’re not in His will. This is true in every realm of your life.
The other way to get out of His will is if He has told you not to do something – and you know He’s told you not to do it – but you want to, or you don’t heed His warning, so you do it anyway. That’s out of His will too.
I've seen this happen more than once in relationships. I've had someone sitting across from me and saying, "I feel like the Lord is telling me to break up with this person because they aren't the one for me -- but I love them so much! And this might be my last chance for love." So instead of listening to that prompting from the Lord, they ignore it and stay with the person. And it just about always ends up in heartache.
God knows what's best for you -- you can trust Him! I've seen so many cases where the spirit of God was warning people in advance, but they didn’t listen.
Those are the two ways to get out of God’s will – disobedient decisions we make, on purpose, in direct opposition to the Lord’s leading. Everything else is just us seeking Him, listening for His voice, endeavoring to hear and obey Him, and walking it out. Don't be so afraid of making a mistake that you don't make any kind of decision at all. God’s got your back.
