Scripture Retreat With Elizabeth Georgeنموونە
“Mirror, mirror on the wall—who’s the fairest of them all?” Do you constantly compare yourself to other women? Please resist the temptation to do so. It can be extremely discouraging! Instead, revel in your womanhood, your femaleness. There is no need to feel inferior, subpar, or second-rate. Woman was God’s last, most beautiful creation. Some say she was God’s crowning glory. It was only after God presented woman that He proclaimed His creation was “very good” (Gen. 1:31).
God has made you, a woman after His own heart, beautiful both inside and out. Today’s focus verse says God has given you “a new heart” and “a new spirit.” If you have been coveting other women’s beauty, clothing, or status, turn your focus back to God. You are fearfully and wonderfully made by God Himself (Ps. 139:14).
Read the stories of women in the Bible. Allow God’s truth to permeate your understanding and transform your view of yourself and other women, until it matches the high value God places on you. Delight in God’s perfect design and plan for your life as a woman. Rejoice! You are God’s beautiful, valued, and precious creation.
Father, You made me. There is no other compliment, endorsement, or affirmation I need to hear or know. Thank You! May I embrace my identity in You and my beauty as Your “very good” creation, fearfully and wonderfully made by You. Amen.
