A Moment With Godنموونە
BE STILL
As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the Lord. They said to Moses, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt? Didn’t we say to you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians’? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!”
Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
For some of us to be still means to remain in bed. For some of us, it could be inactivity. But the definition of being still is not inactivity, but being active in trusting God. The people of Israel were pursued by the enemy. They looked up and were terrified. This was a natural response. They cried to the Lord and questioned Moses, indirectly questioning God. When fear grips us and we have no way of escape, we have two options - either to resist it or resign to it.
Moses answered the people: Stand firm and Be still.
Every child of God should have these two written on their hearts.
STAND FIRM
This does not indicate the location. It is being confident in our hearts that the enemy cannot overpower us.
BE STILL
Be calm. Be at peace. Let us not be overwhelmed by anxiety. We are at peace waiting to see the Lord's victory.
The question is on what basis will be stand firm and be still, knowing our weaknesses, our limitations and knowing that the enemy is just behind us. It is the promise of God and the past experience which will enable us to stand firm and be still.
You WILL see the deliverance. Absolute certainty. Moses is not doubtful. He is totally sure.
The Lord will fight for you. He is not going to let us face the enemy. He will fight for us.
If God is for us, who can be against us?
Let us allow the Lord to handle our battles. Let Him be exalted. How can this be done?
- Let us give Him total control of our lives and not just our battles. Let us trust our lives with Him.
- Let us believe He is more than able.
- Let us stand firm and be still when He is fighting the battle.
- Let us fix our eyes on the Lord and not on the enemy.
Victory belongs to the Lord. Be still.
In the battlefield, we are not a defender, we are only a depender.
