Echoes of Eternity
Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.
Arthur Stace, a former soldier, alcoholic, illiterate and petty thief had his life transformed by Jesus Christ on the 6th August 1930. Two years later Stace became captivated by the word ‘Eternity’ upon hearing a sermon entitled “Echoes of Eternity” on 14th November 1932. As a result of this sermon and although illiterate Stace felt a powerful call by God to write the word Eternity. The graffiti tag Eternity was estimated to have been written over 500,000 times on the streets of Sydney over a 35-year period.
Arthur Stace has without a doubt left one of the greatest marks on Sydney by simply using what was in his hand, a piece of chalk, writing a word that echo’s the past, present and future … Eternity.
When the clock struck midnight on the 01/01/2000, 33 years after his death, Arthur Stace’s iconic handwriting was thrust around the world, by being displayed on the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
What a memory Arthur Stace has left on our city and the world!
What will the history books say about our time? What will the Church say about the days and hours we have been entrusted with? Most importantly what will be the echoes in eternity, the population increase of Heaven because of what we did with our time on earth? There are so many things that can fill our time- family, events, work, school, friendships, paying bills- with all this busyness, eternity can feel like an afterthought. The truth is your choices today affect your forever. Our words, actions, how we steward our money, the time we spend in prayer. These daily actions will echo in eternity.
This is your time, it’s your ‘for such a time as this’ moment! What will you do with what has been placed in your hand?
I’m believing and declaring an awakening over Sydney that has never been seen before. A massive population boost in Heaven that will echo for all eternity from the hours, days and years that we as individuals and as the Church in this generation have been entrusted with. Will you believe and declare with me?
