How to Receive Revelation - Disciple Makers Series #17نموونە
When we think we know better than God
Thoughts on the message
Jesus gives revelation about what will happen to Him – His coming death. His followers do not receive it right. This is important to understand. We can receive revelation from God and not accept it simply because it does not match what we want to believe. We may want to believe that everything will be wonderful and great. The reality can be different and when God reveals the difficult things, it is easy to ignore it – or reject it. The opposite is true also, we can ignore great blessings because we cannot understand how they could possibly be for us.
Jesus gives some great instructions to help us understand how to receive revelation:
- stop worrying about what it means for you and me
- carry our cross (that means be willing to suffer to follow Jesus)
- find your life in Jesus – everything else will be a waste
- God will reward us based on our actions – not words spoken about us
- Some amazing revelations of God will come to us – be ready
Prayer
Father, I see Peter make the same mistakes that I make – thinking my perspective is right. Peter did not understand Your ways and Your revelation because his perspective of Your kingdom was wrong. I see that often in me and others. So Father, give me strength to carry my cross, to stop worrying about what it means for me, and to make You my joy in life. When Your revelation comes, it will be amazing and a powerful source of blessing. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
