Victim Or Victor—It's Your Choiceنموونە
A Word from God
All people suffer. Everybody has difficult times. Christians and non-Christians have hard days. Here is the truth: Jesus said, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” If you understand the glory of the cross, you understand how there can be massive suffering and difficulty, and yet incredible glory and display of who God is at the same time. I wonder if the difficulty you are going through right now could be the same? Your circumstance can have an extreme level of difficulty, but at the same time, a beautiful display of who your Father is. Jesus says in Matthew 16:24, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” Deny themselves, die to the Victim Mentality. Die to their rights. This isn’t about me; it’s about your will. Deny your feelings of being a victim, and take the suffering and let Him turn it into a glorious experience. I refuse to be a victim. I’ll be a victor; it’s my choice. I will take my situation and trust God with it. This will reveal His glory to me, and through me, which will bring Him glory. Go to God with your suffering. Everyone will see the glory of God through you. Counteract The Lies With Truth.
Your ‘problem’ is not your problem; your problem is that you haven’t gotten a Word from God. Matthew 4:4 says: "Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."
How I Feel As A Victim vs. What God Says
I feel all alone vs. “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” —Isaiah 41:10
Life’s not fair vs. “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” —2 Corinthians 4:17
Feel powerless and stuck vs. “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” —1 Corinthians 10:13
Don’t trust anyone vs. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” —Proverbs 3:5-6
Don’t forgive/hold grudges vs. “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”—Colossians 3:13
Suffering is not a choice. Victim or Victor, it's your choice.
