Following The Messiahنموونە
Showing Everyone His Strength:
Lazarus was dead. There was no doubting that when Jesus came to the tomb in Bethany. The mourners had assembled. Lazarus’ two sisters, Mary and Martha, were there to remind Jesus that their brother had been dead four days and would likely smell pretty bad if they opened the tomb. Even His disciples were skeptical. None of that mattered to Jesus. The Son of God stood at the entrance and commanded Lazarus to come out.
It’s easy for us to forget who we serve. We get distracted, worried and lose faith when something doesn’t go the way we hoped it might. We feel like our problems are too big. However, it’s important that we stop and reflect on the fact that we serve the creator of the universe. Our God parted the Red Sea, delivering His people from the strongest civilization in the world at that time. Our God caused the walls to crumble on a massive city that stood between His people and the land He had promised them. Our God delivered salvation through His only Son, born to a virgin.
Our problems might seem insurmountable, but God can do anything. We need to dig deep, have faith and be obedient to God’s word.
We know the outcome of the story in John 11. Lazarus came out of the tomb very much alive and well. The people were amazed and believed Jesus, having seen His power. We need to believe and know that God has immeasurable power.
