Illuminate: A 21-Day Journeyنموونە
Day 9: Day of Pentecost
This passage is such a powerful example of the power of the Holy Spirit! Jesus had instructed the disciples to return to Jerusalem and to wait. They didn’t know what for. All they knew was that Jesus said to go and wait. Their faith, commitment, and passion combined with their love of Christ prompted them to obey. Take a second and read Acts 2:1–41 before reading the reflection. As you read this passage, focus on the fulfillment of Jesus’s promise to the disciples and their response.
Reflection
Just like the disciples, we too received the Holy Spirit upon confession, acceptance, and our belief in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. And just like the disciples, the Holy Spirit enables us to live lives characterized by his power and that light the way to Christ for others.
- Have you been feeling weak and overwhelmed lately?
- Can you hear the voice of God, that still small voice in your head that wants to guide you, encourage you, and remind you that you are a mighty child of God?
- When was the last time you prayed, asking and trusting that God could use you in a mighty way?

About this Plan
Coming off a retreat or revival? What next? You and I are the church of Jesus Christ on earth today, the visible representation of an invisible God. We have the Holy Spirit living within us, and have been commissioned to shine (illuminate) his love in the midst of a dark world. But what does that mean? How did we get here? And what do we do with all of this? All good questions, and if you stick with us through this journey, we are confident that the Holy Spirit will open your eyes to the light within you that God intends to use to illuminate the world!
