3
chapter three
1and in the fifteenth year of the rule of Caesar Tiberius, while Pontius Pilate was governor of Yehudah, and Herod was Tetrarch of Galilee, and Philip, his brother, was Tetrarch of Iturea and of the region Trachonitis, and Lysanias was Tetrarch of Abilene, 2when Chanah and Caiapha are was priests great ones, is Hashem's word come to John son of Zecharyah in the wilderness. 3and he is come into the whole region of Jordan and has proclaimed a mikveh of repentance for the forgiveness of sin, 4in this way like it stands written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet:
a voice of one who is crying out in the wilderness:
prepare to the way of the L-rd (Hashem),
make straight his paths.
5every valley shall filled to be
and every mountain and every hill shall low become,
and the crooked (places) shall straighten to be
and the not straight to be smooth ways;
6and shall every flesh (and blood) see the salvation of Hashem.

7and he has said to the crowds of people, who are come out immersed to become in the mikveh of him: you (PL) offshoots of snakes, who has you (PL) given to understand to flee from the coming wrath? 8bear therefore fruit, (which are) worthy of repentance, and begin not on self convincing: we have Abraham as our Father; because I tell you (PL), that Hashem is able out of the these stones to raise up children for Abraham. 9and the axe lies also already at the root of the trees; therefore every one tree, which brings not any good fruit, becomes chopped off and thrown in fire into. 10and the crowds of people have him asked, in this way to say: what then should we do? 11and he has answering to them said: who it has two shirts, that (one) let to share with the one, who has nothing; and the one, who has food, shall also so do! 12and also tax collectors are come to let self immerse be in the mikveh and have said to him: Rebbe, what should we do? 13has he to them said: collect not more as it is you (PL) appointed become! 14and also soldiers have him asked, so to say: and we, what should we do? and he has to them said: oppress nobody, brings not any informing on anyone, and be contented you (PL) with your wages.
15and just as the people were in expectation, and all have self asked in their hearts about John, (question) is he himself not perhaps the Moshiach, 16has John answered saying to (to) everyone: I immerse you (PL) actually with water in a mikveh, it comes however a stronger than me; whom I am not worthy to untie the thong of his sandals; he will you (PL) immerse be in a mikveh with the Spirit the Holy and with fire; 17his wind shovel is in his hand, to clean out his threshing floor and to gather the wheat in barn into, the chaff however will he burn with fire, which quench self not out. 18and after with a many other warnings has he announced the good News to the people. 19Herod however, the Tetrarch, becoming rebuked by him about Herodias, his brother's wife, and about all deeds evil, which Herod has done, 20has he to the everything added also the these, which he has John shut up in prison.
21and it is happened, while the whole people has self let immerse be in the mikveh and Yehoshua is also immersed become in the mikveh and has prayer done, has self the heaven opened, 22and the Spirit the Holy is come down on him in a bodily form, as a dove; and it is come a voice from heaven; you (SG) are my beloved son, in you (SG) have I a well pleased!
