Stoop To Conquerনমুনা
Facing my Fall
The blows and disgrace we often experience at the workplace is shielded by Christ Himself. It does not matter if we have been humiliated because of standing up for what is right or possibly for our incompetency. We need not labour under shame of rejection because the goodness of God has provided not just for our healing from the fall, but also the blows of fall in our career or personal life.
Years back, I was recruited to a senior position with attractive pay and perks. It did not take me long to be discomfited by the unimaginable standards of immorality and financial irregularity within the office. I felt most uncomfortable in the assignment, but yet reluctant to leave the position due to my financial liabilities. My vocal disapproval of the happenings was not received well by the board and they did not renew my contract. I was left to grapple with an overwhelming sense of humiliation and gripped by fear about my huge loan dues!
Though I liked to stroke my moral uprightness, my emotional pain was also largely due to my perceived humiliation and financial setback. The facing of the fall in my own eyes in the presence of my colleagues was indeed a challenge.
I confessed to God of my inability to take a stance to quit, the fear of my future and the feelings associated at the face of loss. The truth of Christ facing humiliation and shielding me through the finished work on the Cross was truly liberating. It gave me total courage to accept the fall and actually made me lighter in my spirit!
As is always the case with our God, I was compensated more than sevenfold for the loss, the very next month of my leaving the job. I graduated into far more stimulating assignments with ample freedom and generous compensation, combined with travel which I so cherished! On the practical front, I even managed to foreclose my hefty loan in the next two years.
Prayer
Dear Lord, help me to realise that I am never alone. I believe You not only comfort me, but forewarn and protect me from taking wrong decisions. Amen
