DAY 5 OF 7

How can I know God when I cannot feel Him?

Many of us experience such a feeling in our moments of difficulty, when we feel as if our prayers are not heard or God's presence is no longer with us. It’s a common and a natural experience every human goes through. But the truth is God is closer than 'close'. Mother Teresa in her letters to her spiritual mentor wrote about her experience of feeling as if God wasn't near. She called it 'a dark night of the soul.’ But the truth is God is closer than close and more intimate than the air you breathe.

In life, there are two ways a person can go blind. One is the absence of Light to the retina, the other is an excess of light to the retina. What happened to Mother Teresa and many of God's people is that God's presence is so much that their human faculties totally fail to capture the full overwhelming experience of having God so close to them. God is much closer than you can ever imagine or even think of.

If you’re in a situation where you don't feel God's presence, trust God's Heart revealed in His word. He will never leave you. His presence is for real. Ask Jesus to reveal Himself to you, and He won’t fail you.

Prayer:

My heavenly father, I thank you for your ways are higher than my ways and your thoughts are higher than my thoughts, and even when I cannot feel you, I know you are still God and you are enthroned above all. Help me to trust you. Amen
