The Legacy Journeyনমুনা
Guard Your Heart
For more than 20 years, I’ve taught people in Financial Peace University to protect their financial plan with things like emergency funds and insurance policies. I’ll admit that those are not the most glamorous topics in the world, but they are vital for your personal finances.
While I still believe in those foundational principles, I also know that The Legacy Journey walks you toward something deeper. You certainly need to protect your family now, but you also need to know how to safeguard your legacy for the future.
And safeguarding your legacy means safeguarding your heart!
Solomon had it right in Proverbs 4:23. Above all else, we have to protect our hearts. Why? Because everything we do and everything we are is rooted in our hearts. If we miss that point, we’ll never establish a legacy that outlives us.
Protecting your legacy involves being vigilant in four key relationships. First, you need to safeguard your personal legacy. Whether you’re single or married, you have to protect your personal life because radical integrity is a hallmark of individuals who succeed.
Second, if you’re married, you need to safeguard your relationship with your spouse because building a legacy as a couple is crucial. You walk hand in hand and arm in arm through The Legacy Journey. That’s God’s destiny for you, so that relationship has to be protected.
Third, if you have kids, you need to safeguard your children because they represent your legacy as a family. Entitlement leads to family train wrecks, so you’ve got to teach them a solid work ethic and train them to handle money God’s way.
Finally, you’ve got to safeguard your relationships with your friends and extended family members. You don’t want to fund dysfunction or enable bad behavior. So, setting boundaries is incredibly important to protecting your legacy.
You will never be able to build anything of lasting value without wisely managing the relationships closest to your heart. Your spouse, children and future generations are depending on you. Safeguard your legacy by walking wisely for God’s glory.
