Soul Survivor - Devotions From 'The Flood'

DAY 3 OF 3

PURIFY Jeremiah wasn’t a popular man. He was a prophet who urged God’s people to turn from their sin and from worshipping idols that they might be saved from God’s judgement and punishment. The people didn’t want to hear that what they were doing was wrong but Jeremiah kept trying to tell them to turn back to God. In this chapter God says “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” (v3). What an incredible truth for us to think about! No matter how far we feel like we’ve wandered away, no matter how badly we think we’ve messed up, and no matter what we’ve done, God is always there, loving us and longing for us to come back to him. Ultimately we see this truth through the life and death of Jesus. God went to the ultimate lengths to restore our relationship with Him. God in His kindness did what we could never do. We can’t stop messing up – we all sin and get things wrong every day, but through Jesus we don’t have to live in condemnation for our actions but can be fully forgiven. When we know how much we’ve been forgiven and how loved we are, the automatic response of our hearts is to worship. We realise that God’s mercy is a miracle, His grace is what gives us a fresh start and it is His love that has won our hearts. In this chapter of Jeremiah we read that God commanded the people to ‘sing with joy’ and make their praises heard (v7). In our worship we want to reflect on God’s goodness, on how loving and merciful he is and we want to respond by giving Him the praise that He is due.

About this Plan

Soul Survivor - Devotions From 'The Flood'

Soul Survivor recently released a live worship album from their summer events where around 30,000 young people gathered to worship Jesus. This series of devotions takes three tracks from the album ‘The Flood’ and looks at the Bible’s stories from the Old and New Testaments that inspired them, exploring the power of Jesus’ words, God’s incredible kindness, and his ability to make us pure despite our mistakes.
