DAY 3 OF 7

GOD PERFECTS YOUR CONCERNS

I once heard 'worry' compared to a rocking chair. You can rock as much as you want to, but you’ll never get anywhere!

It took me years to learn this lesson. Saying to myself, “The Lord will perfect that which concerns me” is my go-to affirmation now when anxiety or worry try to overtake my mind.

When I first decided to overcome the worrying habit, I used to questioned the scripture’s truth. What if the Lord doesn’t come through and the worst happens?

Then, I recalled the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego, the Hebrews who refused to bow down to worship the king’s golden statue (see Daniel, chapter 3).

Many times, their story is used as an example of faith but consider their response when the king said that he would kill them if they did not worship his image:

“… If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up (Daniel 3:17-18 NKJV)."

They spoke in faith, but they also knew that God is sovereign and the ultimate decision on how and when to move is His. Yet, they acted in faith anyway because it was the right thing to do. Plus when you stand in faith, it gives God every option to act in your life – which includes natural and supernatural ways.

I recommend you get a piece of paper and a pen and write down everything that you are worried about or that makes you afraid. Let God know what is on your heart. Nobody needs to see what you wrote but you.

Writing your anxious thoughts down can help you see clearly about what is going on in your mind – and start to make sense of it. They also have less power over you because once see the fears in black and white, you can discern truth from lies more easily.

Also, write down what you hope your future will be - after seeking the Lord for direction. That will encourage you and help you to make wise choices. Don’t delay. God will perfect everything that concerns you!
