FCA: The Relentless Devotional For Competitors

DAY 29 OF 31

Top Recruit

By Sarah Roberts

READY:

“Only goodness and faithful love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD as long as I live.” – Psalm 23:6

SET:

For a lot of athletes the chance to play collegiate sports would be a dream come true. We love the idea of rubbing elbows with college coaches, having them come to our homes, visiting with our parents and telling us what a great addition we would be for their team—a process better known as recruiting.

To be honest, we all want to be recruited: we want to be wanted. And the good news is that we serve a great God Who has been recruiting us to be on His team since the beginning of time.

From the moment we were born, He has wanted our gifts and talents, but above all our heart. In His eyes, we are His top recruit. He desires to be our coach and will go to any expense to have our commitment. He has provided the ultimate sacrifice through His son Jesus Christ so that all we have to do is say “yes” to be part of His team. And just as our bodies are recruited for sport, our hearts are being recruited by the greatest Head Coach so that we can spend eternity in relationship with Him.

GO:

  1. What do you think would be the best part of being recruited to play in college?
  2. In what ways does God recruit our hearts?
  3. How does it change your outlook on life to know you are God’s top recruit?

WORKOUT:

Revelation 3:20
Romans 5:8
John 3:16

OVERTIME:

Lord, as you pursue my heart, let me be open to your love, forgiveness and plans for my life. Amen.
