How to Overcome Fearনমুনা

Changing Our Focus
When fear takes over our thoughts, it can steal our peace and keep us from living the full life God has for us. That’s why we’ve been digging into our fears over the past couple days so we can begin to overcome them with God’s strength.
So how do we shift our perspective when fear creeps in? Here are four key questions to help us process fear in a healthy way.
Is My Fear Realistic?
Some fears are based on real dangers, while others come from imagined worst-case scenarios. Take a moment to assess whether your fear is grounded in reality or if it’s growing out of anxious thoughts.
Is There a Next Step I Can Take?
Fear often leaves us feeling stuck, but even small steps forward can build confidence. Instead of dwelling on what scares you, consider one action you can take today to move forward. Maybe it’s reaching out to an estranged family member or finding one small step you can take toward a scary goal.
Who Can I Talk to About Fear?
Fear feels heavier when we carry it alone. Talking to a trusted friend, mentor, or counselor can bring clarity, encouragement, and support.
How Can I Change My Focus?
What we focus on shapes how we feel. Shifting your attention from fear to God’s truth, His presence, and His promises can bring the peace your heart needs.
Use your answers to these questions as a way to focus your prayers. Ask Him to help you find clarity, next steps, helpful people, and a renewed focus on His perfect love. Will God take away all your fears every time? Probably not. But He can provide you with peace and courage, even in the middle of fear.
While we’re on earth, we’ll face challenges, pain, and all kinds of trouble. Sometimes we can control situations, but most of the time, we can only control our response.
But no matter what we face, we don’t have to carry fear alone. Jesus invites us to hand over our burdens, trust in His goodness, and take life one step at a time with Him.
So when fear feels overwhelming, pause. Take a breath. Remember that the God who created the universe is holding you. He sees you, He loves you, and He will walk with you through every unknown. You don’t have to have all the answers—just a heart willing to trust Him.
A Prayer for Peace
Father, help me to recognize when fear is distorting my perspective and to shift my focus to Your truth. Give me the courage to take my next step, the wisdom to seek support, and the faith to trust You in the unknown. No matter what I face, I know You are with me, leading me with love. I choose to place my fears in Your hands so I can find peace today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
