The Breath of Lentনমুনা

We need the Lord’s mercy. The writer of this Psalm begins by asking for mercy and then reminds the Lord of who He is; His love is unfailing, and His compassion is great. Some days, our need for the mercy and compassion of God is abundantly evident. Our shortcomings can feel like they are fully displayed to the world around us. On other days, our need for mercy may not seem as urgent. However, there is an underlying need for mercy in our lives. We are flawed, broken people. Our best efforts will continue to fall short without the mercy of God.
What area of your life are you in need of mercy and compassion? Is there a heart issue that you need to address with the Lord? Is there a relationship that your actions have dictated a need for mercy? Take an honest look at your life, your heart, your mind. See the areas you need to pray, “Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.”
Inhale: Create in me a pure heart, O God
Exhale: and renew a steadfast spirit within me
