Change: Connecting With Our Essence

DAY 3 OF 3

When some people in Corinth questioned Paul, he could choose to look at himself through those glasses and feel condemned to never proclaim this gospel or embrace the freedom of the Spirit and show the glory of God in his life.

The comparisons or judgments of the human being can be cruel, condescending, or limited by a morality born of a superficial and light interpretation that only manages to read the letters but does not manage to know the heart of the God who ordered them to be written. This also prevents you from changing or, what is worse, it deforms you or changes you for the worse.

As we saw in the previous two days, we can get stuck in guilt and never move forward to transformation; we can choose a less uncomfortable identity that dresses us in our justices or veils so that we do not go through life with the authenticity of a forgiven and redeemed being.

But we also face this obstacle to change: looking at ourselves with the eyes of men or the god of this world, who can have many measures and shapes.

Deciding to act guided by the freedom that the Spirit gives us implies renouncing to act in a way that is hidden, ashamed, or accommodated to our convenience. It is stubbornly seeking to stand before God and thus present us and commend ourselves to men. We must show the glory of God in our lives while at the same time being aware that we are earthen vessels. This will cause us to rise above the judgments that others make of us and look at us with God's eyes.

Every day, we must choose to show a veil of false justice or be defined by the appearances of the past that prevents us from being transformed by an eternally present God or to show the glory of a God who constantly transforms us because we recognize it is Christ who sows our identity and value.

Those who connect with him in this way will be able to admit with equal humility their needy condition and the glory of the one who can reconcile, redeem, and transform us.

Connecting with our essence in God is what changes us. Every change that is part of eternity is not tied to being in tune with the times or being more prepared for what is coming but has to do with being transformed according to the image God already had of us in eternity.

May God change us into His image and likeness, and may we always be willing to look to Him.
