Learning About Forgiveness With St. Patrick

DAY 3 OF 4

God Protects Us

We sailed off toward my homeland—

Seas were rough, the journey long.

But the Lord, he brought me safely

to my home where I belong.

My folks rejoiced to see me,

so glad for God’s provision.

And to this day I’d still be home,

but for another vision…

St. Patrick had to travel a long way through dangerous waters to get home. It could not have been easy. How do you think he might have felt when he was on that journey?

Even though St. Patrick’s journey was challenging, he trusted God to protect him and keep him safe. God provided everything St. Patrick needed to make it home safely. How do we handle it when we face something that feels difficult? Even when we are scared, can we trust God to bring us safely through it?

Prayer: Dear God, thank you for how you protect us and keep us safe! Please help me to trust that you will provide everything that I need.

Activity: Draw a picture of the boat and the rough seas St. Patrick experienced on his journey (use the image above as your inspiration). In the sky, draw what you think it looked like for the Lord to bring him safely home. Be creative—was God a cloud, a giant hand, a whisper on the wind?
