God's Redemption Story (Revelation)

DAY 24 OF 40

Christians Expect Persecution - Day 24

The Bible is filled with promises made to God’s people. Some are made to specific people in a specific context, but many promises apply to all who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Countless books, blogs, and devotionals compile and organize biblical promises. In all these books and resources, there is always one biblical promise that is never included. In 2 Timothy, Paul writes, "All who seek to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.” You’ll notice that Paul says, “will be,” not “may be” or “might be.” This is a promise. Persecution is promised to those who earnestly follow Jesus with their hearts, minds, and lives. This is not to say that all Christians will face severe persecution or martyrdom. Instead, this means all Christians will face some level of opposition. This may be something as simple as being disliked or excluded. Today, take a few moments to reflect on times in your life where you have received pushback, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant, for your faith. Thank God for that confirmation of walking in His will.
