The Comeback Part 2

DAY 2 OF 5

From Slavery to Success!

Have you ever felt betrayed, alone, or hopeless? Has it ever felt like everything you tried failed, like nothing ever works out for you? Maybe you have big dreams and aspirations, but they seem impossible to achieve. Joseph endured all of these feelings, but with God’s help, he made the ultimate comeback and fulfilled his dreams.

Joseph was gifted with the ability to interpret dreams. Joseph's brothers were extremely jealous of him, so they sold him into slavery as a young boy. He was sold to Potiphar, a high ranking official in the Egyptian government. He found some success there, but Potiphar's wife sabotaged Joseph by telling a lie about him. Potiphar put Joseph in prison, where his gift was used among the other prisoners. Eventually Joseph worked his way up to be second in command over Egypt. That is where we pick up in Genesis 42:6, where Joseph's brothers end up coming to Joseph for help. The same people who betrayed Joseph ended up needing his help in the future. Joseph's story concludes with a reunion and forgiveness of his brothers. Joseph lives a successful life, and makes a comeback from slavery to success!

In life, there can be times that we feel we are at rock bottom. Maybe you feel like you are in a situation where you have no way out, are dealing with betrayal, or are feeling confused about where God has you. The only way that Joseph went from slavery to success, was by pressing into God's guidance and the gift He had given Joseph. Identify an area in your life that feels confusing, hopeless, or that you feel stuck in . Ask God to show you your next steps, and trust the way He leads. Just like God led Joseph from slavery to success, He can do the same for you!

The next time you feel surrounded, grab a piece of paper and write down the times that God has rescued you. Remember the victory that He has given you in the past, and then begin to ask him to come through again!

Lord, help me to recognize you in the midst of my enemies. You are greater than ever fear, sin, or emotion. I need you, Lord. You are where my victory comes from. In Jesus name, Amen.
