Lessons From the Book of Jobনমুনা
Bless the Lord, o my soul
Salaam!
Are you a forgetful person?
I hate to admit it, but I am 🫣. Over the years, I have learned to make to-do lists, and when someone asks me to do something important, I usually write it down so that I don’t forget it.
To-do lists are great, but you know what’s even better? A reminder-list! A list of God’s greatness and all the wonderful things that He has done for you!
Psalms 103:2 says:
“Bless the Lord O my soul and remember all His benefits”
Job probably had a reminder-list because, amid his pain and suffering, he listed out all of God’s attributes (Job chapter 9):
- His wisdom is profound
- His power is vast
- He moves mountains
- He alone stretches out the heavens
- He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed and miracles that cannot be counted.
It is extraordinary to read that Job remembers the goodness of God at a time when he has lost everything: his children, health, and all his wealth. He does not try to pretend that everything is alright or that he can make sense of it, yet through it all, he clings to what he knows about God.
Faith is deliberate confidence in the character of God whose ways you may not understand at the time. - Oswald Chambers
Ultimately, God restored Job’s fortunes and ‘blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the first’ (Job 42:12). Whatever struggles you are facing at the moment, however difficult life may look, it is important to remember God’s faithfulness and trust that He has good plans for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).
When was the last time you made a reminder list about God? I challenge you to take some time today to write down for yourself a list of everything He is or has done for you.
Hey! You are a Chamatkar.
