Pause and Pray: 9 Days of the Fruit of the Spirit

DAY 6 OF 9

Let’s Share Jesus’ Goodness

It’s easy for Christ followers to become discouraged, weary, and worn. Life can beat us down, and we can face resistance and opposition even when we do good. It often feels like our diligent effort is spinning a wheel for nothing. Growing weary of doing good is a concern in a believer’s life.

Though it might seem like our good works are done in vain, they aren’t. Jesus is behind the scenes orchestrating and arranging things for our good and his glory. But we often jump in his way by becoming weary and stopping the motion. We live in a culture of instant results with expectations of immediate satisfaction all at our fingertips. But the reality is that a planted seed doesn’t grow overnight. That’s when our faith gets stretched and we learn to let God be God in his perfect timing. God has designed life this way. By waiting for his proper time, we will reap a harvest.

Today’s color of the day is brown. Whenever you see something brown, find a way to share Jesus’ goodness with someone around you. Consider surprising someone with a gift of their favorite treat. And then at 1:11 p.m., pause and pray with believers around the world, thanking God for the goodness he has shown you.

Jesus of goodness, we are grateful for clear direction inspired by you throughout your Word, which gives us a precise road map to follow your carefully designed path. In your strength, we should never grow weary in doing good.
