Following Jesus in Nursing: A Daily Devotional for Caregivers

DAY 11 OF 14

Take one minute, and breathe in and out slowly. Ask Jesus to make his presence known to you. How does faith in Jesus help our fears? How can Jesus keep us safe in chaotic situations?

Miscarriages are devastating. So many hopes and dreams are dashed. You feel isolated and alone. It’s a grief many of us keep and hold to ourselves. After a first pregnancy that went to full-term, I experienced two miscarriages. I prayed earnestly for another baby. When I learned I was pregnant again, I was ecstatic! Our family was so looking forward to a new little one. And then the spotting began. I could not believe what was happening. “God, I can’t go through this again.” As I headed to my bedroom, I had mixed emotions. I prayed aloud, “God, I don’t want this. I don’t know if I can handle this again. But even if I lose this baby as well…I still choose you. You will always be my God.” Suddenly, I felt such peace about me. It was like someone had wrapped me up in a soft, warm blanket. I didn’t know the outcome, but I knew the One who could calm what was happening within me. I could trust in him for whatever lay ahead. –Grateful for you, Christy
