Living in Increase (Part 9) - Increase in Healthনমুনা
Week 3: Emotional Health
Emotional Health
This week, we are discussing the importance of emotional health. “Emotions are natural instinctive states of mind deriving from one’s circumstances, mood, or relationships with others. The keyword in this definition is “natural.”
God created emotions. It is natural for us to feel. God Himself has emotions! If God can feel, we should also have the freedom to feel.
Our emotional instincts are natural. They cannot be controlled. We’re not necessarily in charge of what we feel and when we feel it. However, what we can control is how we respond to these emotions.
Emotional health is all about being aware of your emotions and controlling your response. Emotions should never control our actions or thoughts, but when we get to an unhealthy place, it’s easy for our feelings to take the lead because they come naturally. When our emotions take over, our lives become turbulent. Emotions, as mentioned in the definition, are based on our circumstances. Joy, however, is always available to us because of the power of the Holy Spirit.
A broken spirit will suck the life out of us, but a joyful heart can bring healing. Therefore, this week, we aim to identify some of our emotions and what the Bible says about them. Then, we’ll discuss how we can choose joy in each circumstance, regardless of how we feel!
