Living in Increase (Part 5) - Increase in Faithনমুনা
Everlasting Father
The next characteristic of God is the Everlasting Father. Let’s look at what these words mean.
“Everlasting” used in Isaiah 9:6 means “eternal” or “forever.” If God is everlasting, then it means that neither He nor His Kingdom has an end. As Luke 1:33 says, “He will reign over Israel forever; His Kingdom will never end!”
How you view God as a Father may be skewed depending on your relationship with your earthly Father. The word “Father” in Isaiah 9:6 is defined as the “father,” “originator,” or “producer” of a people. In the simplest form, God as Father means He is the Originator, the Creator of all people. However, to take it a step further, God is a loving Father who is benevolent and desires a relationship with His children. This type of Fatherhood demands respect and honor, not out of force but out of gratitude. Regardless of how you view your earthly father, you can view God as a great Father who loves and protects us!
As the Everlasting Father, God’s character is steady. He is always loving and seeking a relationship with His children. When we see God as our Everlasting Father, we know that we are loved with everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3) and will spend eternity with Him!
