A Year in Luke/Acts

DAY 1 OF 364

Thank you for joining us for this year-long journey in Luke-Acts. It is designed to be started around Christmas with Luke’s account of Jesus’ birth. We will go through one chapter each week, with a catch-up day every sixth day and additional readings every seventh day. The readings on the seventh day will be connected to the gathering of the Body of Christ each week in church, so the plan works best if you start on a Monday or just under a week away from whenever your church gathers.

Luke and Acts were originally written to be read together. Luke 1:1-4 and Acts 1:1-2 show this and are addressed to “Theophilus,” which means “beloved of God” in Greek. This might have been a high-ranking Gentile because Luke refers to him as “most excellent,” but it is also possible that it simply refers to any readers whom Luke is addressing as loved by God.

This week we will be in Luke chapter 1, write down what details stand out to you today as you read.
