Christmas Advent: Jesus, Comeনমুনা

Great High Priest, Come
The Old Testament sacrificial system was an essential part of the Israelites’ worship and relationship with God. Every year, they would bring their offerings to the priest, who would make atonement for their sins. This system reminded them of the seriousness of sin and the need for a sacrifice to cover it. However, this system was never enough. The sacrifices had to be repeated, and the people’s sin was never fully dealt with.
But through Jesus, we no longer need to offer repeated sacrifices. As the Great High Priest, He offered the perfect sacrifice once and for all. Hebrews 10:12 reminds us, “But this Man, after offering one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God.” Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross was sufficient to atone for all sin; through it, we are reconciled to God.
Jesus, as our High Priest, understands our weaknesses and sympathises with our struggles (Hebrews 4:15). He is not distant or aloof, but fully engaged in our lives, offering us help and grace in our time of need. This Advent, let us reflect on the incredible gift of forgiveness that Jesus offers and approach Him confidently, knowing that He is our Advocate, our Intercessor, and the One who offers us salvation.
