Praying comes before sharing

If we are serious about wanting to share the gospel with others, whether it be friends or strangers, it is essential that we recognise the importance of prayer in our evangelistic efforts. Prayer is a powerful tool that allows us to connect with God, seek his guidance, and intercede on behalf of those we are trying to reach.

In the Bible, we are encouraged to devote ourselves to prayer. This means setting aside dedicated time to speak with God, to listen for his voice and to align our hearts with his will. When we commit to a lifestyle of prayer, we open the door for God to work in and through us as we engage in evangelisation.

Prayer is not simply a one-way communication where we reel off our shopping list to God. It is a two-way conversation that involves both speaking and listening. Through prayer, we can ask God for wisdom, courage and opportunities to share the gospel with those around us. We can also pray for the individuals we are trying to reach with God's love.

Prayer plays a vital role in preparing our hearts for evangelisation. It helps us cultivate a spirit of humility, compassion and love for others. When we spend time in prayer, we are reminded of the importance of seeing people through God's eyes and loving them as he does.

As we engage in sharing our faith, we may encounter challenges, obstacles and resistance. In those moments, prayer becomes our source of strength and comfort. It reminds us that we are not alone in this mission, but that God is with us, empowering us to boldly proclaim his truth.
