Suppose you decided to pay top dollar for the most up-to-date smartphone on the market. This smartphone can be used as a camera and a video recorder. It can create slide shows, and you can edit professional presentations. It even allows you to turn your air-conditioner on before you get home. But what if, even though you paid for all those features, you use the phone only as a phone, to call your sister. That’s it. It would be a shame to pay such a high price for technology and use only the most basic feature. Yet that’s what many of us do with our relationship with God. He paid the ultimate price—His Son—so we could have access to all His glorious riches. These include all the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. They also include God’s power, the confidence that comes from being His child, and so much more. Yet many of us barely scratch the surface of what our faith in God can do. Ask God to enlighten your heart so you can understand the hope you have. Make it your goal to use all the riches and power that come with being a daughter of the King.
